Loud and Proud

My parents like to joke that I have been practicing for a life of singing ever since I was a baby. I was born early with a hernia and spent the first few months of my life constantly screaming. Luckily, I grew out of it and no risky infant surgery was necessary, and I was on my way to developing the massive lungs that have been the blessing in my vocal and musical career. Some of my earliest memories are of singing, setting up a pretend rock back on the front porch with the neighborhood kids, singing Christmas carols with my family, and being enraptured whenever I got the change to see a professional musician perform. My passion for music followed me from early childhood all the way through school until I ultimately decided to make it official and make it my major at East Carolina University. There I got my Bachelors degree of Music and I am so thankful for the wonderful foundation of classical training that it provided to me.

After graduating, I quickly realized my road was a decidedly less classical path, and I began to experiment to find my sound. Is any musician ever truly finished evolving when they are passionate about their craft? I was lucky enough to be hired as a choir member and featured soloist in a musical theatre production right out of college, but the itch to write and perform my own music still persisted. It took a few years of self reflection and lord knows I'm still reflecting! But I found my way out to Denver, Colorado where I took a music business class at CU Denver and my world exploded with possibilities, friends, and even more music than little ole screaming baby Megan could ever imagine.

So join me as I continue to explore, evolve, create, and share my musical journey with you on this funny little marble we call Earth.
